The Piece Hall

The Piece Hall

Almost 230 years old, The Piece Hall in Halifax was originally a place for weavers to sell their cloth pieces. The market stalls used to be so much busier, and even the shops along the the colonnades aren't as occupied as they used to be unfortunately. Concerts have been held here, and the Pink Floyd tribute band Off The Wall have played regularly for the past few years - the acoustics of the place are perfect. There are entrances on 3 sides, and from what I understand, they're going to be making an entrance on the East wall too (the one directly in front of my camera view). I can't imagine how that's going to look, as there's a ruined church just behind it as you can see from the spire in the shot.

  • Love the wide angle and the choice of b&w. It looks more like a place you'd visit in the med than Halifax :)

  • This just breathes ancient times. Excellent wide angle and framing which make you keep finding new things to look at in this picture. Nice work!

  • Cool Shot. It's too bad, they should leave it as is.
