Dead Tree

Dead Tree

I pass this field on my way to work everyday, and have been itching for summer to come round with all the tress in full leaf, as I've always thought the dead tree would make a nice subject against all that life. I took quite a number of photos that day, but somewhere along the way, I'd managed to hit the picture quality setting so the better ones I had were at the lowest quality/size settings. Needless to say I was a bit gutted. I shall return there when the sky is blue and fluffy clouds are on parade.

  • I like this! The bare tree is well positioned amid the green and below the lovely sky.

  • Nice shot. I like the foreground grass, it frames the shot nicely.

  • A fine graphic image of this tree...nicely isolated which gives it "center stage" in the shot. Very well done.

  • The dead tree makes a great contrast with the ones in full "plummage". This type of tree also benefits from being taken in either early morning or late afternoon sun when it'll "pop" against the background. Hopefully uou can get back when the sky is more amiable.

  • I agree with milou about the light. The tree itself is full of character though. I like it.

  • Curious why it was shot at f/4?

Needs the light as mentioned previously, also for me the fronds of grass in the immediate foreground shouldn't be there...
My advise it to keep reccying this area to get them conditions and then you will have a great shot :)

  • perseverance pays ! go for it untill you got that sublime photo ! (meanwhile I am wrestling with ... a waterlily, i do not seem to be able to catch that feeling of soft and perfect beauty that I experience when watching it, so now I try it with different light/weather conditions etc ...)

  • Beautiful! I love the dead tree standing there by itself. Nice!

  • Nicely framed, but as mentioned it would look great in early morning or evening light. Like Russ, i'd of done a bit of "gardening" to remove the close up grass. :)

  • Still a very pleasing picture ... although I agree with Russ' comment of either a little gardening, or perhaps some height is needed.
