Jaffa Harbour

Jaffa Harbour

Posted: 01.08.07 | Categories: [Black and White]  [Israel]  [Tel Aviv]  [Wide-angle]

This is the harbour area of Jaffa, it's really quite small, but enough for the small boats I saw. The colour version of this didn't do much for me or the place itself, so a conversion to B&W was in order. This was taken when the sun was quite high, but I would have liked to have been back there in the evening, as I think the front of the buildings on the left would have blossomed colour-wise with the setting sun.

I'm so glad I took the wide angle lens with me, even if I didn't use it much.

  • What a nice little harbour !
With this b&w processing, it seems extract from a 50's or 60's movie and it's great.

  • Very nice perspective with the converging lines. Nice B&W conversion especially the sky and the near pavement. I would have liked to see a little more detail in the storefronts - perhaps with a little dodging.

  • Lovely shot! The b&w really enhances the whole thing. Lovely composition, has a very mediterranean feel to it.

  • Wonderful rich colors and I love the puffy clouds.

  • Your black and white work is excellent. Such a full range of tones! The sky is so rich in its tonality, and the shadow area on the buildings is full of detail, without blowing out any of the whites. Very well done.

  • Nice! I think the choice for B&W worked out great. Love the contrast between the sky and the clouds.

  • A great image with some good leading lines and top cloud action. That high sun does look a bit harsh but the b/w conversion seems to have take the edge off it for me.
